Traditional Vajra Pendant in Sterling Silver 925 on a delicate 1,2 mm Stainless Steel Chain.

According to Indian mythology, the Vajra is considered as one of the most powerful weapons in the Universe. It can be used as a ritual object to symbolize both the properties of a diamond (Indestructibility) and a thunderbolt (Irresistible force). It also represents the great spirit and spiritual power.

The Vajra or Dorje is certainly the most important symbol of Tibetan Buddhism. If the Sanskrit term Vajra means “hard and powerful”, its Tibetan equivalent Dorje, means “the lord of stones” and evokes the brilliance and hardness of diamonds. It indicates the indestructible nature of the spirit in itself. It talks about Enlightenment which is both imperishable and indivisible. Originally, the Vajra is the lightning-diamond of the god Indra. Indra, the god of thunder is shown in red, symbolizing his belonging to the caste of warriors who venerated him, also called "Kshatriya". His Vajra would symbolize his active power and royalty.

The Vajra is essentially a cylinder with a ribbed spherical head. The ribs can meet in a ball-shaped apex, or they can be separated and end in points.
