Anāhata - the heart chakra - is the center of compassion. When the anterior chakras are well grounded and the load on the heart is balanced, Anāhata radiates joy, gratitude and compassion. Compassion creates conditions that facilitate openness, caring and a sense of security. It is a predisposition to perceive the feelings of others, guided by a deep feeling of love, concern, active solidarity or even commitment.
Anāhata means in Sanskrit 'the unstruck breath'. In the rule of the air, Anāhata is characterized by a tendency to move in different directions and reach new possibilities. Here, the air is not the breath of life, but the vastness of space and the movement of sound. Anāhata would convey a mysterious cosmic vibration which would spread beyond the realm of the senses. An eternal flame is at the center of Anāhata, united by two opposing forces. The feminine and the masculine, Siva and Sakti, the basis of the Kundalini.
